Pre-Heresy Terminator Test Model

I have completed the modeling and converting for the first of my pre-heresy project. I think it turned out pretty good for the first try.

Credit must be given to Ron at From the Warp. His tutorials are quality entertainment for the whole family. The 'How-to" that I followed may be found here (click here for the tutorial).

Also, Iktovian at Not Yet Done has some great pre-heresy helps. The templates I used for the shoulder pads can be found here (click here for templates).

Now all I need to do is decide which Legion to run and which codex to use. Please help me out on this one.

Which Legion do you think I should run? Please leave a comment with a Legion and a reason why. I was thinking about White Scars as an excuse to paint an army white.

Devastators: New Heavy Bolters Complete

I have completed the Heavy Bolter Devastators. As you can see from the pics, a more momentous event has occurred.

I have officially completed the re-basing project. Every single model which I possessed in the previous incarnation of this Angels Sanguine Army has now been switched over from the brown sand to the urban bases.

Other news: GW sent me an email yesterday stating that my new 6th edition stuff shipped on Tuesday. I am very excited. Who knows? Maybe these Heavy Bolter marines will be useful in 6th.

Also, I downloaded and printed some templates for making pre-heresy shoulder pads for Terminators. I am preparing for a test model.

Devastators and Waiting for 6th Edition

I am finally finishing the re-basing. These are the last models which needed the urban bases.

Let me just add here that I am super excited about 6th edition coming out. Based on the rumors and info that is now being included in GW's videos, I think that the new edition is going to be the great equalizer in terms of competitive play and great great fun for the 'beer and pretzel' crowd.

Not long now, and we shall see where 40k takes us.

As I contemplate the possibility of starting another army in 6th edition, I have been researching pre-heresy conversions for terminators. What does the future hold??

Advance Order Placed: More Waiting

I placed an advance order with GW this morning. Now I only have to wait for its arrival.

I ordered the Gamer's Edition: Rulebook, Munitorum Dice, and Leather Bag.
Also, I ordered the Psychic Powers.

Let the waiting commence!

Battle Report: Blood Angels vs Chaos Space Marines

Here is the battle report from the second game over the weekend. It was a rematch of my Angels Sanguine and the Chaos Space Marines. However, we each ran different lists. The lists are recorded at the front of the video.

I got off to a good start with the shooting in turn 1, and I was able to ride that wave of success throughout the game. My opponent and I talked during the game about whether or not going first in this particular game really made that much of a difference.

It will probably be obvious to you as you watch the video that he had trouble dealing with my armor throughout the game. Of course, he wrecked the Land Raider as soon as it came into range of his Plague Marines with Melta Guns. Nevertheless, you will notice that the Land Raider was the only vehicle I lost in the game.

Having said that, it was a great game between gentlemen where everyone involved had fun.

Any comments or ideas that you have by way of analysis are welcome here. Thanks for viewing.

Battle Report: Blood Angels vs Chaos Space Marines 2000

I had a wonderful weekend, as I managed to play 2 games of 40k. Here is the first battle report.

I have discovered one mistake by watching the video. The Obliterators assaulted in the turn that they arrived via deepstrike.

I really enjoyed a great game against a great opponent. We both had tons of fun playing.

I hope you enjoy watching.

Land Raider #2 WIP: Free Hand Completed

I am almost there. The final details (Skulls, etc.) must be picked out. After that, the Land Raider will be ready for battle damage and weathering. At that point, she will be ready to destroy the enemies of the emperor in her righteous might!

I give credit for the self-made transfer technique to Ron at From The Warp. If you haven't yet ventured over to his blog, then you are really missing out.

One more thing, I am trying something new with the video. If I like it, I may begin doing more video in the blog.

As always, your comments are welcome.

Land Raider #2 WIP: Free Hand Blood Angel Iconography

Here is another sneak peek at Land Raider #2. I have started the free hand.

First things first, I used the Self-Made Transfer Technique which I learned from Ron over at From The Warp. If you haven't been over there to read and browse around, you are missing out. Ron has contributed more modeling and painting techniques to my hobby experience than any one other person. He is constantly producing quality 'How-To' material.

So, I pulled out the Codex and found the chapter banners. I took one of the images and altered it a bit to fit in the space that I am using on the Land Raider.

I cut the paper out to the size of the space where I wanted the image to go. I drew on with a pencil. Flipped the paper over and shaded the back with the same pencil. Then, I held the paper in place and traced it with a ball-point pen. The shading on the back transferred the image lightly to the surface of the tank. After that, I pulled out the paints and brushes and set to work.

At this point, I decided to take break and snap the photos for your enjoyment.

Vassal 40k

I played a game of Vassal 40k last night. It was my first time back to Vassal 40k in about 2 years. At that time, they were on the losing end of some legal stuff with GW. I had no idea that Vassal 40k was still operational. It's not just operational; It is booming. They have everything including Forge World stuff on there.
