Lord Commander Dante

"Commander Dante is one of the most experienced and able
Space Marine Chapter Masters and has ruled over the Blood
Angels for over a thousand years." -Codex Blood Angels

Dante is a very powerful model on the table. It has been my experience that Dante has the power to change the outcome of the battle. He excels at gathering kill points. He can lead your primary assault units into the heart of the enemy. From your opponents perspective, he cannot be ignored. He excels at reacting to and stopping your opponents attempts to achieve their plans on the battlefield.

The most effective method of using Dante is to keep him near Corbulo. The combination of Preferred Enemy and Furious Charge on a model with 6 attacks on the charge is tremendously effective.

If you are not using Dante, I encourage you to try it. You will not be disappointed.

If you are like me, then you are playing Blood Angels because they wreck stuff in assaults. I guarantee you that Dante wrecks stuff in the assault phase. It is just bonus that he has a melta-gun pistol.

The Dante has nice gold work! I have had trouble painting gold and getting it to shine nice like that

Thanks a lot Mitch.

I can tell you what I did and see if that information is useful to you.

I just started with a black undercoat and painted him Dwarf Bronze. Next, Badab Black wash all over. I used Shining Gold leaving the recesses and such making sure that the Dwarf Bronze can still be seen in some of the areas. Last, I used Chainmail to highlight the edges. I used Plaid Clear Acrylic Sealer Matte in a spray can from Walmart.

Thanks for the comment, and thanks for reading here on the blog. I am going over to check out your blog.

The last thing I have to paint for the comission I am working on is 3 honor guard models. The models being used are the Black Reach Captain, Master of the Watch, and a DA Robed Librian.

I was thinking of using gold on them, since they do wear artificer armor for ther e+2 save

For power weapons, what I use is UltraMarines Blue, with Ice blue and blend them together. I use skull white to make the lightning bolts

Lovely paintjob! He looks pretty dangerous - I know I wouldn't change the channel on his TV without asking first!

Have you found it overly restrictive having all your 'assault eggs' in one basket, with Dante, Corbulo and the Furioso all together? My plan is to field Dante with an AS and then Lemartes with the DC, but I seem to have read a lot of comments that Dante/Corbulo is the most winningest combination!

Thanks, Pacific

Thanks Pacific.

I run the DC in a Rhino with Corbulo. I try to keep Dante and the Furioso within 12" of that Rhino. The reason that I want them all that close is to grant Furious Charge (from Corbulo) and Preferred Enemy (from Dante).

This group is my Primary Assault Element. I will ram this group down my opponents throat. I mean slam them right into the middle of whatever he is trying to do on the table.

This forces him to deal with them. He cannot ignore them, or he will not achieve his game plan.

I love Lemartes, but he costs more than Corbulo and does not grant Furious Charge outside of his own unit.

I understand Dante/Corbulo to be the most competitive combination. However, you can run Dante/Lemartes and be ultra competitive as well. You will just need to develop slightly different tactics.

ok thanks for that reply FM Goehring! I think that gives me a great excuse to get hold of all 3 HQ choices! :)

I think that is an excellent idea. I have all three!!
